Park Cottage, Humbie Children's Village

Park Cottage is a single-storey and attic cottage, probably designed by J H Cooper before 1906, and originally part of the Humbie Children’s Village. The village, built in an Arts and Crafts style, was intended to provide holiday accommodation for children with disabilities and later became a residential care facility before its closure and redevelopment into private housing in 2008.

The cottage is rectangular in plan with a catslide roof to a rear porch. It is harled with a red tile roof and features projecting end stacks. The west elevation presents a projecting, flat-roofed glazed porch, canted at the left centre. To the right corner is a chamfered bay. A projecting window is located at ground level to the left, with a jettied gablehead above and an attic window within the gable. A fire escape has been added to the south side, the doorway likely formed from a former window. The cottage is part of a group listing including numbers 4-6, 8-14.
