Description

T Duncan Rhind. Dated 1903. American shingle style house with

3-bay extension to W 1952. 2-storey and attic with basement

to W. Eaves sweeping over 1st floor at intervals.

Asymmetrical, composition and plan. Snecked, squared and

coursed sandstone rubble. Small-pane glazing altered in

places. Westmoreland slated roof; deeply coped rubble stacks.

Complex elevations with stacks from slopes.

S ENTRANCE FRONT: 2-storey porch with door to E side. Triple

window at ground, oriel over and applied timber framing in

gable. Similar detail in adjoining dormer. Wide gabled bay

to W. Verandah/loggia at E returning from E elevation and to

N.

N FRONT: main roof swept over semi-circular window on

off-centre gable, flanked by eyelid dormers. Balcony with

cast-iron railings and steps approaching from W, over canted

window bay at ground floor; door onto balcony in recessed

gable.

INTERIOR: porch with painted strip-panelling. Timber beamed

ceiling and recessed fireplace in former drawing room.

Decorative window latches. White panelled doors, brass

handles, in extension.

Ashlar sandstone gate piers and rubble wall.
