Description

R Weir Schultz, 1907-10. Arts and Crafts butterfly plan.

Harled with ashlar doorways and porch. Slate roofs. Variety

of sash windows, small-pane glazing.

S ENTRANCE FRONT: advanced bay off-centre to W with ogee

roof. 2-bay pilastered porch in re-entrant angle to left. 2

later doors formed to E with architrave above. 2 flat-roofed

dormers.

N REAR: 3-storey off-centre canted bay, corbelled out above

eaves level, with ogee roof. Random openings 2 flat-roofed

dormers.

W SIDE GABLE: 2-canted bay with slated roof. Advanced chimney

stack to N.

E side gable: advanced stack to N and windows to S. Single

storey flat-roofed block to E linking with windmill.

INTERIORS: much altered by division of house. Carpentry and

joinery by R McArthur and Sons of East Linton and Dunbar.

WINDMILL: 18th century, harled sandstone rubble former

windmill, with slated cone roof. Projecting base with door to

E; narrow windows under eaves.

Interior converted for habitation.

LODGE: R Weir Schultz, 1907-10. Single storey with mansard

attic addition to N. Rectangular plan with extension N.

Harled.

Slate piended and mansard roof. Mainly sash windows.

Small-pane glazing. Ridge stack. Entrance through timber

porch recessed into SW corner.
