Description
This is an early 20th century former gasworks, now used as a vehicle shed. The building's exterior is white-painted harl, while the interior walls are rendered brick. There has been an enlargement to the door on the east gable end. The north elevation features five round-arched windows with hoodmoulds. Two similar windows are present on the west gable, alongside a blocked window at the centre and a blind oculus above, with brick buttresses. The south side has a blank wall with a blocked doorway. Windows are fitted with six-pane glazing. The gables have a curvilinear apex, and the roof is corrugated iron with straight skews. The interior contains no surviving elements of its original gasworks use. Map records indicate the gasworks relocated from a northern site, on the village’s edge, to this location beside the railway in the early 20th century. No machinery from the gasworks remains, although two outbuildings are located to the north. The statutory address is Aberlady Station Dyer Transport Shed, former Gas Works.
