Description

St Andrew's Church Hall, located on Bridge Street in Musselburgh, was built in 1829 and later remodelled and largely refronted in 1889. The hall features a classical front made of painted ashlar, while the side and rear elevations are constructed from rubble, brick, and partly rendered surfaces. It has a ridge slate roof topped with a central square louvred cupola, which is capped by an ogee lead roof and a ball finial.

Each side of the building has two windows at both ground and gallery levels. The front is three bays wide and symmetrical, with an advanced, higher pedimented central bay flanked by consoles that conceal the gable end. A large Venetian window, which has a cornice that connects to the main cornice, was added during the 1889 remodelling. The central doorway is segmental arched and features a fanlight, dating back to 1829. On either side of the doorway are bipartite windows, divided by pilasters at both ground and gallery levels, with a panelled parapet above the cornice, all part of the 1889 alterations.
