Bridgend Cottage, Edinburgh Road, West Barns, Dunbar

Bridgend Cottage is a late 18th century, low two-storey, three-bay end of terrace house located on Edinburgh Road in West Barns, Dunbar. The building is constructed of red sandstone rubble, which is rendered and lined on the south side, while the side and rear were formerly harled. Openings feature brick and timber surrounds.

The south elevation, facing the road, has the bays grouped towards the centre, with a doorway flanked by windows at the ground level and three first-floor windows that break the eaves in flat-roofed dormerheads. The rear elevation includes a doorway in what was formerly a stair window at the centre, with a small square window under the eaves above. To the left, there is a modern window panel with a brick surround, while the right bay has a ground floor window and a first-floor window breaking the eaves in a dormerhead.

The gable elevation features garage doors inserted at the ground level to the right, with a window to the left and a first-floor window to the right. The eaves are higher due to a 19th century house adjoining to the east, known as Ardshiel.

The cottage displays a variety of glazing patterns, including four-pane and horizontal-pane sash and case windows. It has ashlar coped skews, a brick end stack, and is topped with red pantiles.
