Description
Lanton Place Cottage is a late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay house with a later single-storey flat-roofed addition at the rear. The building is constructed from red sandstone rubble, featuring broadly droved ashlar margins.
On the southeast elevation facing the road, there is a modern glazed door at the center, flanked by windows. The first-floor windows are located in the bays beneath an ashlar eaves course with rounded arrises. The southwest elevation has a gabled design, with two windows at ground level and a window on the right side of the first floor that projects into the gablehead. The northeast elevation is a blank gable, while the northwest elevation includes a modern addition on the left side at ground level.
The cottage features four-pane timber sash and case windows, ashlar coped skews, and beak skewputts. The apex stacks have been rebuilt with brick above the thackstanes.
