Description
10 Brown's Place is an early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house that forms part of a terraced pair. It is constructed from red sandstone ashlar with stugged dressings, featuring raised margins and an eaves course. The sides and rear are made of whinstone rubble.
On the northeast elevation, the bays are grouped towards the center. There is a pilastered doorpiece at the center with a cornice, a strip fanlight, and a flush panelled door. The flanking bays at the ground floor have tripartite windows, while each bay at the first floor has a single window.
The southeast elevation features a projecting flat-roofed stair bay at the center, with a doorway to the right and a four-centre arched window above. There is a harled single-storey gabled outhouse adjoining the stair. The outer bays have windows at both the ground and first floors.
The southwest elevation has a gable adjoining a single-storey terrace, with sash and case windows displaying a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates, featuring straight skews and end stacks, and there is a rubble retaining wall.
