Description
16 and 17 Brown's Place in East Linton is an early to mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay house. The building features squared whinstone rubble with sandstone dressings at the ground floor and stugged ashlar on the first floor. The end wall is made of random rubble. There is an unfortunate two-storey flat-roofed projection at the rear, which is harled.
The entrance door is located at the center and is topped with a two-pane margined strip fanlight. On either side of the door, there are windows, and each bay on the first floor also has a window. The windows are sash and case style with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is piended and covered with grey slates, and there are rubble wallhead stacks that have ashlar dressings and a cornice. Additionally, there is a low rubble retaining wall with sandstone coping.
