Description

Spylaw Cottage is a mid-19th century, single-story lodge built on a T-plan. The exterior is of squared and coursed ashlar with grey ashlar margins. The main entrance faces east and features a decorative hinge bracket. A wooden bipartite window is set into the advanced gable to the left, with a single light to the right. The north gable incorporates a bipartite window and a later, flat-roofed, harled extension at the angle. The south gable is blank. The windows are sash and case with a 4-pane glazing pattern. The roof is grey slated with deeply overhanging eaves, an ashlar stack situated to the south, and harled stacks to the extension.
