Description
These are a group of six single-story farm cottages, built in the mid-19th century. They are arranged in a U-shaped plan and face south. The cottages are constructed from roughly squared and snecked rubble stone with dressings of grey ashlar. The layout features a central pend, with a door flanked by two windows on either side. A pair of cottages extends at right angles on each side, with a lower wing forming the U-plan. The cottages on the inner side of the U have a window in the gable, and a door on the inner return. The cottages at the east and west ends form pairs, each with a south-facing gable, a door, and three windows on each return.
The windows are sash and case with a four-pane glazing pattern. The roofs are covered in red pantiles with a slate easing course. The roof has straight skews, and ashlar coped stacks. The statutory address is Drem, 6-11 (inclusive) The Bield. The farm cottages are shown on the Ordnance Survey map of Haddingtonshire from 1854.
