Description
Mid 19th century, these are a group of six single-story farm cottages arranged in a U-shaped plan, facing south. The cottages are built with roughly squared and snecked rubble stone, with dressings in grey ashlar. The central section features a pend, with a door flanked by two windows. Pairs of cottages extend at right angles to the south, with a lower wing forming the U-plan. Cottages on the inner side have a window to the gable, and a door on the inner return. The outer cottages, which form pairs, have south-facing gables at the east and west ends. These have a window to the gable, a door, and three windows on each return. The windows are sash and case with a four-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with red pantiles, with a slate easing course, straight skews, and ashlar coped stacks. The statutory address is Drem, 6-11 (inclusive) The Bield. The farm cottages are shown on the Ordnance Survey map of Haddingtonshire from 1854.
