Description
Greendykes is an early 19th century, 2-storey, 3-bay farmhouse with a service wing to the northeast and a drawing room wing along with porch additions that create a T-plan layout. The building features squared and coursed stugged ashlar with galletting on the earlier sections, and painted margins, while the rear is constructed of rubble.
On the west elevation, there is a later 2-bay wing with a piend roof that projects to the left, and a 2-storey corniced porch located in the re-entrant angle. The porch has a painted, pilastered doorpiece with a cornice, bordered glazing above the door leading to a strip fanlight, a window on the return at ground level, and two smaller windows on the first floor. The porch is positioned close to the outer right bay of the original house, which also has a window on each floor. The advanced wing has windows on each bay at both the ground and first floors, along with a window on the return.
The east elevation features a canted, 2-storey stair tower with a polygonal roof at the center bay and a window. There are flanking windows at both the ground and first floors, and piended slate-hung bipartite dormers in the attic. The lower, irregular 3-bay service wing extends to the northeast, with windows on the first floor that break the eaves in later gabled dormerheads. The windows throughout the building are sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered in grey slates, with coped skews and coped ashlar stacks, and the later wing has a corniced finish.
