Description
Townhead is an earlier 19th century, two-storey T-plan farmhouse constructed from red sandstone rubble, featuring some harl pointing, with ashlar dressings and a base course.
The east-west wing has a deep-set door at the center of the south elevation, which is topped with a stone bracketed canopy and a fanlight. There are windows in the flanking bays and above in each bay on the first floor. The gable and elevations on the north side also include a window on each floor.
The north-south wing is attached to the rear of the east-west wing and is two bays deep with a gable. It has a lean-to porch located in the re-entrant angle to the west. The sash and case windows feature a 12-pane glazing pattern. The building is topped with ashlar coped skews and end stacks, and it has a grey slate roof.
