Description
Redhouse, Redhouse Castle is an early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay farmhouse that may have been re-roofed in the early to mid-19th century. The building is constructed from harl-pointed random sandstone rubble, which was likely originally harled, and features raised ashlar margins and ashlar dressings. The central door has a strip fanlight above it, along with a keystone and a relieving arch. There are windows on either side of the door at ground level, and two windows on the first floor, each with bracketed gabled dormerheads above. The windows are sash and case with a specific glazing pattern. The eaves are bracketed and have simple plate glass barge boarding, while the roof is covered with grey slates and has coped rendered stacks topped with decorative cans. There is a lean-to porch addition on the right side at ground level. To the south, there is a low rubble-coped retaining wall for the garden and a steading.
