Description

Setonhill Farm is a later 18th century building that was altered in the mid 19th century. It consists of two-storey, three-bay terraced houses with an attic, which have had their openings enlarged and are now combined into one farmhouse. The exterior features cream-painted harl with brown-painted ashlar dressings, raised margins, and an eaves cornice. There are lintel courses and rusticated quoins on the house to the north. A former dovecot is attached to the south gable.

The north farmhouse has a west elevation with an advanced porch that has a cornice and rusticated quoins. The door is located by the north re-entrant angle, with two windows flanking it on the ground floor and three windows on the first floor. There are also two windows on the first floor of the north gable, with two small round-arched windows above in the attic. At the rear, there is a glazed door leading to the garden on the ground floor, along with a later canted outer bay at both the ground and first floors. The attic features two gabled slate-hung dormers with bracketed eaves.

The south farmhouse has a west elevation with a later, mid 19th century advanced porch that includes a crenellated parapet. The door is located by the south re-entrant angle, with windows similar to those on the north farmhouse. There are three windows on each floor at the rear, along with two mid 19th century dormers. The former dovecot is also attached to the south gable. The windows throughout are sash and case with a plate glass glazing pattern. The building has ashlar coped skews, grey slates, and corniced ashlar stacks.

The walled garden to the east features rubble walls forming a square, with brick-lined and rubble-coped tops. Additionally, there are sandstone gatepiers to the southwest that have a deep cornice.
