Description

  1. 2-storey, rectangular plan granary with

square-plan former kiln adjoined at S and single storey

outbuildings added to N by early 19th century. Converted

for residential purposes. Rubble pink sandstone with

stugged squared dressings; rendered concrete cill and

lintel repairs at intervals.

S ELEVATION: piend-roofed former kiln to right with gabled

19th century boiler house/forge adjoined at ground to S,

brick stack; door flanked by window on W return of kiln

and small window above. Hayloft door merged with door

below to form vertical band to left of granary elevation

and further doorway in re-entrant to right, with 1st floor

window above.

N ELEVATION: rectangular addition of outbuildings to left

and centre with small square openings with timber

surrounds, and later garage door inserted on W return;

piend roof swept into main roof left of centre, with

altered granary openings under eaves behind.

W ELEVATION: largely blank with masonry evidence of

former water wheel; 2 small square windows. Timber

casement windows inserted on conversion. Purple slates

to granary and adjoining outbuildings; pantiles to former

kiln.
