Description
Stewarton, 16 Kirkford is a pair of cottages dated 1781, located at a prominent junction entering Stewarton. The cottages are two stories high and have five bays, featuring a painted roughcast exterior with contrasting raised margins. There is a small, central round-arched window opening to No 16, and the rear has later extensions. The building includes a corniced quoin strip.
The windows are predominantly replacement four-pane timber sash and case windows with horns on No 14, while No 16 has non-traditional replacement windows. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there are raised skews, gablehead, and ridge stacks.
The interior was partially seen in 2008, and No 16 has been comprehensively modernised.
