Description

This building, located at 52 Dundonald Road in Kilmarnock, dates from around 1880 and is a two-storey and attic, three-bay castellated villa. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble, with the main elevation painted white and featuring a green entrance porch and a canted bay. The design includes a base course, a two-storey canted bay with a castellated parapet on the right, and a bracketed parapet with decorative castellation that runs along the roof over the left and center bays.

On the northwest (principal) elevation, the center is recessed with a projecting entrance porch that has a semi-octagonal shape. The entrance features a doorpiece with heavy cornice detailing, polygonal finials, and a geometric pediment, with a single window above on the first floor. To the right, there is a projecting bay with a crowstepped gable, a two-storey canted window, and a small attic window with a star-shaped hoodmould in the gable. The slightly projecting bay on the left has a bipartite window with a stepped hoodmould at the ground floor and a single window above.

The building has modern two-pane glazing and a slate roof with straight skews and corbelled coped stacks. Additionally, there is a boundary wall and gatepier consisting of a low painted stone wall with a gablet pier. To the right of the elevation, there is a large panelled ashlar gatepier topped with a cushion cap.
