Description

9-13 (Odd Nos) Lainshaw Street is a terraced tenement building from probably the later 19th century, featuring three storeys and three bays, with shops on the ground floor. The exterior is finished in cream-painted ashlar, accented by contrasting raised, moulded architraves around the upper storey windows. There is a cornice at the ground level and a reeded cill course at the first floor. Ionic pilasters frame the elevation, and decorative scroll details are present on the skewputts. The first floor windows have cornices, while the second floor windows feature fleuron details on their cills. At the rear, there is an adjoining brick outbuilding.

The shop fronts are asymmetrical and designed with segmentally-arcaded pilastrade, where the pilasters are heavily vermiculated and topped with distinctive shell capitals. The shops have stone cills and stall risers, with the shop on the right showcasing two-leaf, six-pane timber storm doors.

The interior, which was seen in 2008, primarily consists of the shops, some of which have decorative cornicing. The upper floors predominantly feature non-traditional replacement windows, while the ground floor has plate glass. There are ashlar stacks at the mutual gableheads.
