Description
Greystane Lodge, built in 1870 by Campbell Douglas, is a single-storey, irregularly planned lodge designed in the Baronial style, with a later extension that matches the original style. The building features bull-faced snecked rubble construction and a grey slate roof adorned with decorative ridge tiles, while the extension has a plain roof. It includes plate-glass sash and case windows with moulded and chamfered reveals, crowstepped gables, and gable stacks.
On the southeast elevation, there is a modern door with a moulded doorcase leading to an entrance tower at the right re-entrant, which has a blank panel above, a string course, a wallhead course, and a finialled conical roof. To the right, there is a bay with a window that breaks through the eaves and features a cat-slide roof. An advanced bay to the left has a bipartite window at a bowed angle to the right, with a crowstepped gable that includes a blank panel rising through a corbelled wallhead parapet. A later bay at the far left is slightly recessed and contains three windows.
Surrounding the property is a round-coped rubble wall to the east, which includes two massive flat-topped round-section gatepiers made of rubble with a corbelled wallhead course, and two decorative wrought-iron gates.
