Description

Bullionfield Paper Mills in Invergowrie is a later 19th-century paper mill building. It features a two-storey, rectangular-plan, 23-bay, double-pile range with a large tower on the west side. The structure is built from stugged and snecked rubble, with stugged ashlar dressings and random rubble on the south bay, which has a brick gable to the west. The tower has polished ashlar corbels and a parapet, while the south bay has a slate roof and a sheet roof with a full-length ridge light.

The tower includes a segmental stair tower at the southwest angle, which is corbelled from the first floor and extends to a flat-roofed cap house. It features a deep, coped parapet with angle turrets that are not roofed, and the roof is concealed by the parapet.

On the south and east elevations of the tower, there are no openings. The west elevation has two small windows at different levels on the first floor, three round-headed windows on the second floor, three windows on the stair tower, and two additional windows in the upper part of the tower and cap house. The north elevation has blocked openings on the ground floor and a louvred opening above.

The main range's north elevation is symmetrical, with tall windows on the ground floor, some of which are blocked, and smaller windows on the first floor. There is a new entrance located off-centre to the right. The east gable has a blank section to the right, except for a door on the ground floor, and coped skews with a block skew end finial, while the wider gable to the left has a door. The south elevation is blank. The interior has not been seen.
