Description
The Black Watch Memorial, located in Caird Park, was built in 1922 and is made of sandstone ashlar. It honors members of the Black Watch Battalion and is situated beside Gelly Burn, surrounded by woodland. The memorial features a broad stepped base constructed from ashlar blocks. The base course of the plinth has an overhanging cornice that supports freestanding Corinthian columns at each corner. In the center, there is a sandstone ashlar pier with segmental pedimented panels that are inscribed with the names of fallen soldiers. Above, there is a plain entablature with a deep corniced eaves course and a central domed stone roof.
