Description
The War Memorial located at Townhead in Dysart was built in 1920. It is an obelisk made of droved ashlar stone. The memorial features an octagonal base with three steps, leading to a rusticated plinth and a set-back single-stage pedestal with chamfered angles. Each face of the pedestal displays a bronze plaque labeled 'ROLL OF HONOUR', topped by an inscribed band that reads 'THESE GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919'. The shaft of the memorial is also octagonal, with a moulded base, a decorative band, and a carved cap. The north and south sides feature the 'Lion of Scotland', while the east and west sides display the Dysart coat-of-arms, represented by a tree.
Surrounding the memorial are semicircular-coped rubble boundary walls.
