Description
The South African War Memorial to the Black Watch, located on Market Street in Edinburgh, was designed by W. Birnie Rhind and constructed between 1908 and 1910. The memorial features a bronze figure of a soldier dressed in a kilt and busby, leaning on a rifle, which stands on a red granite plinth. Above the figure is a Doric entablature that includes triglyphs and guttae. The memorial also displays a bronze low relief depicting a battle scene, along with a bronze crest and inscriptions.
