Mains Of Claverhouse, Claverhouse Road, Dundee

Mains of Claverhouse is a former manager's house built around 1840-1850, located on the south side of the Dighty in Dundee. This two-storey, three-bay building has a T-shaped plan and is constructed from rubble, with coursed stonework at the front and ashlar dressings.

The elevations feature a cill course at the first floor. The central bay is advanced and has a gabled design, with a doorpiece framed by pilasters and a pedimented blocking course above. There is a window with a consoled pediment situated above the door. To the north, there is a set-back wing that is two storeys high, complete with a gable-end stack, and a single-storey wing with a piend roof extends beyond it. A new stair has been added at the east gable, replacing a previous single-storey terrace.

The building has a broad eaved piended roof with ashlar stacks at either end. The windows are sash and case style, featuring a four-pane glazing pattern. Additionally, there are cast and wrought-iron railings surrounding the property.
