Description

Nethergate Market Cross in Dundee is a historic structure originally designed by John Mylne, who included his monogram "IM" and the date 1586. The cross was relocated to its current site in 1874, where it was provided with steps and a small octagonal base featuring shafted angles. The tall octagonal shaft has been restored and is topped with a Corinthianesque capital. A modern unicorn sculpture, made of resin bronze by Scott Sutherland, is also part of the cross.
