Description

David W Baxter of Johnston and Baxter, dated 1904.

2-storey red ashlar free Baronial bank on corner site.

Circular corner tourelle containing entrance vestibule,

projecting pedimental doorpiece with triple transom light,

2 ground floor and 3 1st floor corniced and transomed

single-light windows, corbelled cornice and conical roof

with wrought-iron finial.

Flanking gables to both frontages, each with 5-light

double transomed ground floor window and 3-light

transomed 1st floor window with keystone and small

semi-circular armorial pediment, set in semi-elliptically

arched recess; diapered stacks.

3 further bays to Stirling Street with similar fenestration

3-light at ground floor, cross windows at 1st. Carved

parapet. Slate roofs and diapered gable end stacks.

INTERIOR: some modernisation, but several good contemporary

wooden doorpieces remain.
