Description
The gates and gatepiers at Bowbridge Works on Thistle Street in Dundee were built around 1930. They feature two channelled ashlar pillars designed in an Art Deco style, with margins, an architraved and keyblocked doorpiece, and pulvinated Greek key capitals topped with carriage lamps. The gates themselves are made up of horizontal and vertical bars, adorned with narrow panels of cast metal that depict bas relief thistles and intertwined foliage. Additionally, there is a smaller pedestrian gate that includes a plaque showing Lawrence of Arabia leaning on a camel.
