Description
Linlathen East Bridge is a single arch light estate road bridge built around 1795 to 1810. It is constructed of wrought iron with some cast iron, featuring coursed and ashlar sandstone buttresses. The bridge has a segmental arch with spandrels made up of plain concentric circles that decrease in size towards the top of the arch, connected by tie bars at the soffit. The parapet is adorned with plain quatrefoils, although fencing has been added later. The timber decking and springing points have been raised, which has reduced the camber of the bridge. The buttresses slope back from the riverbed and have balustraded splays, although the balustrade remains only at the northeast and southwest ends. Additionally, the north buttress features a small round-headed arch over a silted flood channel.
