South Lodge, Linlathen House, Arbroath Road, Dundee

South Lodge, located at Linlathen House on Arbroath Road in Dundee, is a mid 19th century single-storey lodge designed in a cruciform plan, which has been made irregular by later additions at the northeast re-entrant. The building features sandstone corners, ashlar dressings, a grey slate roof, and red brick stacks. It has plate glass sash and case windows with moulded architraves, margined angles, deep eaves, exposed rafter ends, shaped pulin ends, and moulded bargeboards.

On the west elevation, there is a porch at the center of the re-entrant with a chamfered depressed arch and a moulded cornice at the parapet, leading to a door with a moulded doorcase. To the left, there is a bipartite window and a blocked window on the left return gable. An advanced gable on the right features a corniced, bipartite rectangular window.

The south elevation has a slightly advanced gable at the center with blocked windows on both the ground and first floors, and a bay on the right with a window.

The east elevation is largely obscured by various flat-roofed additions that mask the original building.

Surrounding the lodge is a rubble wall to the south with rounded ashlar coping, four chamfered ashlar gatepiers with moulded caps and ball finials, and decorative cast-iron quadrants.
