Description
This is a late 18th century cottage, possibly designed by Alexander Stevens as part of a larger, ultimately modified, plan for St Ann’s village. The cottage is single-storeyed, with a piend roof and three wide bays, a central door, and a simple layout. It is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings, all whitewashed. It has sash windows with a four-pane glazing pattern, and a central axial stack. The roof is slate. Plans in the Scottish Record Office, dating around 1780, reveal Stevens’ original proposed village plan for St Ann’s, which was more extensive than the village as executed. Historic Environment Scotland's records (RHP 10,029) provide further details. The property was previously listed as part of St Ann's Village and was formerly occupied by a tenant named Mr. Ross.
