Description
The site comprises an 1852 farmhouse with a large steading to the northwest. The farmhouse, built in the style of Walter Newall, is a two-story structure with a basement, arranged on a roughly square plan with three-bay elevations. It features single mullioned windows with lying-pane glazing. A narrow, north-facing central door leads into the house, while the east-facing ground floor windows are set within projecting square bays. The farmhouse is constructed of stugged red ashlar and has a piended slate roof with projecting eaves. Gatepiers mark the driveway. The steading consists primarily of 18th and 19th century buildings arranged on two sides of the driveway. Constructed from rubble and ashlar with slated roofs, the ranges are tall and mostly include attics contained below the eaves. A long barn on the north side of the driveway dates to the 18th century, and was heightened and extended eastward in the 19th century, incorporating a two-bay depressed-arched cartshed. An apsidal horsemill is also located to the north. The ranges to the south of the driveway feature regular bays, with parallel ranges. The range closest to the east has a full-height return, forming a courtyard to the east, and gables facing the driveway.
