Description
A farmhouse dating to 1852, accompanied by a substantial steading to the northwest. The farmhouse, built in the style of Walter Newall, is a two-storey structure with a basement, roughly square in plan and featuring three-bay elevations. It has single mullioned windows, fitted with sashes and lying-pane glazing, a narrow central entrance facing north, and ground-floor windows on the east elevation, set within projecting square bays. The exterior is of stugged red ashlar, topped with a piended slate roof with projecting eaves. Gatepiers mark the driveway.
The steading is comprised mainly of 18th and 19th century buildings arranged on two sides of the driveway. Construction is of rubble and ashlar, with slated roofs. The ranges are tall, with attics contained below the eaves. A long barn on the north side of the driveway is of 18th century origin, and was heightened and extended eastward in the 19th century, including the addition of a two-bay cartshed with depressed arches, and an apsidal horsemill to the north. Ranges to the south of the driveway feature regular bays and parallel arrangements; the range closest to the east has a full-height return, forming a courtyard to the east.
