Description
South Gate-Lodge, formerly South Lodge, was built around 1840. It is a picturesque, single-story lodge with a prominent bowed bay to the right, projecting deeply. The main entrance is located in the re-entrant angle formed by the bow. Two further bays containing windows extend to the left. The exterior is constructed of snecked, stugged, and squared red rubble, with ashlar dressings and projecting cills. It features mullioned windows; the bow contains sash windows, while elsewhere there are small-paned casements. Chimneys are present, each originally featuring diamond flues. The roof is slate and piended, with a curved profile over the bowed bay.
