Description

The Meikledale Barn is a 1792-dated farmstead and bank barn situated on a slope. It has a tall, rectangular plan with a long north wall built against the hillside. The barn is constructed of rubble with stugged ashlar dressings and polished margins, though some 19th-century alterations feature red ashlar. The north side has a two-leaf door positioned off-centre, with a dated lintel above and a short, narrow forestair leading to it. Flanking lean-to structures are also present. The south elevation faces a small steading courtyard and incorporates doors, windows, and five regularly spaced slit ventilators. The roof is covered in graded slates. The remainder of the steading is not included within the listed building. The building's category was changed from B to C(S) on 12th July 1988.
