Garden Cottage, Arkleton

This is a later 19th-century walled garden complex, including glasshouses and a gardener's cottage. The garden is enclosed by quadrangular walls constructed of rubble, with ashlar coping and brick lining, and buttresses. A lean-to glasshouse range runs along the north and south walls, extending the full length of the southern wall.

At the west end of the garden are square gate piers built of polished ashlar, topped with pyramidal caps finialed with balls. Modern wrought-iron gates are in place.

Located at the northwest end of the garden is a single-storey, three-bay brick-built gardener's cottage, with polychrome dressings. The west elevation features segmental-arched ground-floor openings. An off-centre door is positioned behind a gabled porch, which has bargeboards and is supported by slender columns. A small window is set within the gable above the porch. To the left is a bipartite window, and a single window is on the right bay. The roof is covered with slate and has a piended profile. The complex is associated with Arkleton House.
