Description

The Manse on Bruce Street in Whithorn was built in 1816 and is a two-storey building with a dormerless attic, featuring three bays. The exterior is constructed of rubble walling with raised painted angles and window margins. A central porch, which is also single storey and piend-roofed, is made of rubble and has raised angle margins. On either side of the porch are tripartite windows, and there are three single light windows on the first floor. All windows are sash and case with four-pane glazing. The building has a moulded eaves course.

On the rear elevation, the rubble walling continues with raised margins. In the center, there is a two-storey projecting bay with a piend roof and stone coped skews. To the left, there is a single storey wing. Most of the windows are sash and case with four-pane glazing, although some feature small pane glazing.

The building has single storey wings on the gable ends, with flat sandstone skews and coped end stacks topped with octagonal cans. The roofs are covered with slate, and there are bracketed cast-iron gutters.
