Kilmore House, 30 Laurieknowe, Dumfries

Kilmore House is an earlier 19th century single storey and attic villa with three bays, featuring Tudor details and a notable cast-iron verandah. The building is constructed from red ashlar stone. The advanced bay on the left has a gable topped with a finial and shaped skews, and the verandah wraps around the southwest flank. There is a square-columned porch in the re-entrant angle, adorned with a carved lion above it. The right bay contains a bipartite window, and there is a dormer above. The villa has small-paned sash windows, a cornice, and a blocking course, along with unusual end and axial stacks. The slate roof complements the structure. The verandah features a bell-cast roof supported by stanchions, with two bays on the main elevation and is partly made up of lyre-shaped railings.
