Description

26 Laurieknowe in Dumfries is an earlier 19th century two-storey terrace that consists of three two-bay houses designed in a plain classical style. The house on the left, No 28, is possibly from the mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed from droved red ashlar with polished dressings and feature pilastered doorpieces. Nos 24 and 26 have attics and basements, a paired doorpiece, and recessed doors, with the door to No 26 being panelled and adorned with a decorative fanlight. They also have panelled jambs, small-paned sash windows, and two dormers. No 28 features a panelled door and sash windows with a four-pane glazing pattern. The houses have straight skews and end stacks, topped with slate roofs. They are set behind low garden walls that include cast-iron railings and plain octagonal gatepiers.
