Description
14 Laurieknowe in Dumfries is a two-storey, three-bay house that dates from the earlier to mid-19th century and was remodeled later in the century. The house features heavy architraved openings with bracketed sills and a segmental door pediment. There is a fourth bay on the left side and four canted dormers. An unusual garden retaining wall is located to the left, which has shallow recessed panels.
The house is constructed of painted ashlar and has a recessed panelled door, plate glass sash windows, straight skews, and corniced end stacks, all topped with a slate roof.
The garden retaining wall is built of rubble with ashlar dressings and includes a pedestrian gate beside the house. It features alternate segmental-arched and square-headed openings, with cast-iron railings on top.
