Description
Hoghill is an earlier 19th-century farmhouse with associated steading. The farmhouse is a two-storey, three-bay structure situated at the west end of a courtyard steading, which is arranged as flanking wings. The farmhouse is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings and has a limewashed exterior with painted and chamfered margins. The west-facing elevation is symmetrical, featuring a corniced central porch with a wide two-leaf doorway, and eight-pane sash windows. It has an eaves and lintel band and tall, coped end stacks on the rear wing facing the courtyard. Narrow bays on either side connect to the piended end walls of the steading. These steading ranges are single-storey with lofts; the south range has small openings to the courtyard above cart openings, while the north range has slit ventilators. An east range incorporates a dovecot facing the courtyard and a gabled shed at its north end. All roofs are covered with graded slates.
