Port House, 5 Main Street, New Abbey

Port House, located at 5 Main Street in New Abbey, is likely a house from the late 16th or 17th century, though it was raised in height in the late 18th century or the first quarter of the 19th century, with alterations to its openings.

The building is two stories tall and has three bays, with the inner openings arranged asymmetrically. The windows on the first floor have been heightened, and their cills raised. On the northwest elevation, the inner first floor window is not directly above the door, and the enlarged outer openings feature sash windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The house has straight skews and rubble-built, corniced end stacks with thatching stones. There are two skylights, and the roof is covered with graded slates. A recessed low wing is attached to the southwest gable, and an outbuilding is connected to the eastern angle.
