Parish Church Hall, Charles Street Old, Langholm

The Parish Church Hall on Charles Street Old in Langholm was designed by architect J Burnet of Ewesbank in 1881. This straightforward Gothic-style church hall is a simplified version of the parish church, featuring hood-moulded lancet windows. The building is constructed of stugged ashlar with polished dressings and has a rectangular plan. The east, west, and north elevations are buttressed. The north gable has a central pointed doorway with nook-shafts, a stepped three-light window above it, and a belfry at the apex topped with a cross finial (though it does not contain a bell). The roof is slate, with saw-toothed skews and a stack over the south gable. There is a gabled porch on the south gable, and the hall is set behind simple cast-iron railings on the west side.
