Description
Templars Hall, located at 25 Bank Street in Irvine, is a single-storey gabled church hall built around 1880. The structure is made of squared and snecked sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a base course at the front.
On the southeast elevation, there is an entrance porch to the left of the main gable, which has a coped wallhead and a door with a moulded surround and a two-pane fanlight. The main gable is adorned with slightly stepped, tall round-arched three-light windows, each featuring a keystone. An ashlar band runs along the wallhead, complemented by prominent bracketed skewputts and a decorative metal finial at the gablehead.
The northeast elevation consists of five bays, with tall narrow windows in the three central bays, a blank bay on the outer left, and a door in the outer right bay.
The northwest elevation has a tall lean-to that spans the gable, featuring a blinded bipartite window on the return to the left.
On the southwest elevation, there is a lean-to that spans the elevation and abuts the rear gable of the church on the right.
The windows are made of timber, with small-pane glazing in fixed and pivot windows at the front, and lying-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows on the sides. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are ashlar coped skews. A truncated ridge ventilator and a former gablehead stack are present on the northwest gable.
The interior was not seen in 1996.
