Description
The gates and gate piers at the Parish Church Bridge in Langholm were likely designed by Burn and Bryce between 1842 and 1843. This structure features a two-arched bridge that is gated at the north end, allowing a driveway to cross over the Wauchope Water to the church. The bridge is constructed of ashlar stone and includes rusticated voussoirs, pointed cutwaters, and string courses at the parapets. It has domed squat circular terminal piers, and tall piers flanking the driveway at the north end support spiked cast-iron gates with projecting caps.
