Description
The building is the hall of Broomhill Congregational Church, designed by Sir J J Burnet and dated 1907, with the halls constructed around 1903. It features a Gothic style and is built from red snecked rubble. The layout includes a nave, chancel, a single gabled north aisle, an arcade, a southwest tower, and halls arranged in a courtyard plan.
The former church has its main entrance on the east side at the base of the tower, which includes a large projecting porch with a timbered gable and double-leaf doors. There is a projecting vestibule on the southwest side, featuring a tripartite canted window with colonette mullions, and simple lancet windows throughout the church.
The tower is squat and consists of three stages. It has a cusped two-light window on the ground floor facing south, with a relief dedication panel above it, flanked by sculpted busts and an arched window with nook shafts on the first floor. The tower features giant round-arched bellcote openings with roll-moulded margins, a bracketed parapet with corner turrets, and a pyramid roof topped with diminutive lucarnes and a cock weathervane.
The halls are single-storey and in an L-plan. They have a timbered gable on the eastern outer entrance bays, connecting to continuous glazing with leaded lights. Above the western entrance, there is a gable with lancet windows, while the rear has plain windows. The roofs are covered with slate.
