4 John Street (former UF church and Colliston Boys Club Hall), Dalbeattie

4 John Street, formerly the United Free Church and now converted into flats, was built in 1861. It features a rectangular plan and is constructed from coursed and snecked, bull-faced granite, with a polished sandstone base course, string course, window dressings, and coped angle buttresses.

On the southeast elevation, there is a moulded, pointed arched doorway with a replacement entrance door, flanked by three tall lancet windows that have moulded hoodmoulds and triple-paned glazing above. The side elevations also have tall lancet window openings with replacement glazing. The roof is slated, featuring straight skews and triangular skewputts. At the apex of the southeast gable, there is an open bellcote with an oculus underneath. Additionally, a roughly rectangular-plan structure is attached to the rear (northwest) elevation of the former church.
