Description

Cunninghame House is a former Free Church built in 1846, featuring a rectangular plan. The building has a porch on the south side and is constructed of tooled coursed stone, with rubble on the north side. It includes an ashlar eaves course, quoins, and surrounds for windows and doors, with droved and chamfered window surrounds.

The principal elevation is symmetrical, with a central door framed by a corniced, moulded doorpiece. Above the door is a corniced bipartite window with chamfered stone mullions and a decorative surround to the cill, along with a narrow ventilation slit. There are tall flanking bipartite windows, also with chamfered stone mullions and an upper transom, featuring decorative details on the lintels. The wallhead is adorned with flanking pinnacles, and a bellcote sits at the gable apex, complete with a corniced base, curvilinear top, and a bell.

The south elevation has three windows, with an advanced porch on the far left and a central window, while a door is located to the right in the right return. The west elevation features a tall central window with a narrow ventilation slit above it, and an advanced left quoin stone that has a carved cross inscription. The north elevation contains four regularly spaced windows.

Most windows have nine lower panes and six upper panes, while the principal elevation windows have twenty lower panes and eight upper panes. The building has a pitched slate roof with raised skews and kneelered skewputts, along with a coped, chamfered gable apex stack on the west side. The porch also has a pitched slate roof with raised skews, kneelered skewputts, and a roll finial.

The interior was not seen in 2001, as the building has been converted into four flats.
