Description

Little Sandhaven is an 18th-century, 2-storey, 3-bay house with an L-plan layout. It features a later rear wing and a late 20th-century wing to the east. The exterior has ashlar surrounds to the openings and is harled.

On the south elevation, there is a central door on both the ground and first floors, with a replacement forestair on the left. Flanking the door are windows on both floors. To the right, there is a wing with two ground floor windows and garage doors at the far right.

The west elevation is attached to the Stephen Memorial Hall.

The north elevation has a central modern porch with a door to the right and a window to the left, along with a window in the left return. There is a ground floor window to the left and two first floor windows. The wing on the right is advanced, featuring a first floor window. There are ground and first floor windows in the left return of this wing. The far left wing is slightly advanced and has two ground floor windows to the right, large doors to the left, and two first floor dormer windows in a raised roof.

The east elevation presents a plain gable wall.

The building predominantly features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, with replacement two-leaf timber boarded doors. The roofs are pitched, covered with clay pantiles and slate easing courses. The house has crowstepped gables and gable apex stacks, while the rear wing has a coped apex stack. The eastern wing has a centrally raised roof with tile-hung cheeks on the north elevation and a rooflight.

Inside, there is a stone chimney breast that is advanced in the west rooms, and the interior has been modernized.

To the rear of the house, a low circular rubble wall encloses a well.
